Terceira Like a Local: Small-Group Food & Culture Tour

Half-Day Dairy Farm Tour and Fado Night (3 PM to 10:30 PM)

The afternoon starts at a traditional cowshed, where local farmers explain how dairy farming works on the island and why it matters so much to Terceira.

From there, you go to a local restaurant for dinner with a live fado performance, Portugal's best-known traditional music. You return to your hotel after the show.

Asinus Atlanticus Full-Day Tour (9 AM to 6 PM)

The day starts in the pastures of São Mateus da Calheta, where you meet the donkeys, feed them carrots, brush them and taste their milk.

At Pico Redondo, you can try milking by hand and by machine, and test cosmetics made from donkey milk. Lunch is at 1 PM at the local restaurant O Rocha.

On the way back, the van climbs Serra da Ribeirinha for a view over Angra and the surrounding pastures.

West Coast Full-Day Tour (9 AM to 6 PM)

The tour starts in the village of Cinco Ribeiras with a cheese tasting at Queijo Vaquinha, followed by a visit to Casa da Atafona.

Lunch is at Ti Choa, a traditional restaurant in Serreta. In the afternoon, you visit O Nosso Café in Angra, where coffee is produced and tasted, and end the day with a demonstration at the São Bento pottery.

Full Day in the UNESCO Heritage City (9 AM to 5 PM)

The morning covers the Military History Center, the São Gonçalo Convent, the Cathedral, the Palace of the Captains General, the College Church, the Misericórdia Church and the Angra do Heroísmo Museum.

Before lunch, you stop at the traditional pastry shop O Forno for a tasting of Dona Amélia, Terceira's spiced cake, with a drink and coffee. Lunch follows at QB restaurant.

In the afternoon, the tour continues to Monte Brasil and Alto da Memória, and ends at the Duque da Terceira Garden.

Biscoitos Full-Day Tour (2 PM to 10 PM)

The afternoon starts at the Wine Museum in Biscoitos (no tasting here), then moves to Materramenta, where you see the threshing floor, a vineyard laid out in old stone structures and the winery, with an explanation of how the wine is made. You can also see the old wine press, the lab and the tasting room.

Next are the natural lava pools of Biscoitos, where you watch the sun go down, followed by a dinner inspired by Terceira's bull-running tradition, the tourada à corda. You return to your hotel after dinner.
