Terceira with Car: The Bensaude Collection

This Azores Getaways package includes round-trip flights, 6 nights at Hotel do Caracol in Angra do Heroísmo with daily breakfast, a rental car for the full stay, and airport transfers. Additional meals, guided tours, and city taxes are not included.

Round-trip flights are included in the package. Other departure cities are available on the calendar or on request. The package price depends on the selected airport. Contact the Azores Getaways team before booking to discuss departure options. Seat selection, extra baggage, and cabin class upgrades are not included in the package price but can be arranged as paid add-ons, subject to availability.

The rental car includes basic third-party liability insurance. Depending on the rental company, a collision damage waiver (CDW) may already be included, but most rentals still carry a mandatory excess. We always recommend upgrading to the highest insurance level available. This can be arranged through the Azores Getaways team when booking or directly with the car rental company.

• On-site amenities. An indoor and outdoor pool, a children's pool, a full-service spa with scuba diving and snorkeling on site, and Cozinha do Caracol serving regional cuisine, so there's little reason to go looking elsewhere for a relaxed evening.

Within walking distance: Sé Cathedral (0.9 mi), Fortaleza de São João Baptista (1 mi), Municipal Gardens (1 mi), and the Angra do Heroísmo Museum (1.2 mi). A short drive away: Monte Brasil (2.3 mi) and Zona Balnear do Negrito (2.6 mi). Further out, worth the car: the Serra de Santa Bárbara and Mistérios Negros forest reserve (7.8 mi) and Biscoitos (8.4 mi). The hotel is about 13.2 mi from Lajes International Airport.

A full-service spa offers spa treatments on site, and guests can scuba dive or snorkel right at the property. Cozinha do Caracol serves regional cuisine, alongside a snack bar/deli and a lounge bar. Yes. Biscoitos, on the north coast, is known for grape vines grown directly in volcanic rock enclosures, producing Verdelho wine. A small wine museum in the area offers tastings, worth combining with a stop at the natural lava pools nearby.

Held every June, Sanjoaninhas is Terceira's biggest festival, music, dancing, and traditional street bullfights (touradas à corda), where bulls run loose through roped-off streets. It's a genuine local tradition, but also means larger crowds and, on tourada days, some streets closed to traffic. If you're driving, expect possible detours during the festival, and if street bullfights aren't something you want to encounter, check the schedule before planning your route into Angra that day.

Roughly a 20 to 25-minute drive from Angra do Heroísmo. Known for its colorful impérios (small religious brotherhood chapels) and a sandy beach, a change of pace from Angra's historic center.
