• Algar do Carvão: A lava tube and volcanic chimney, descend through tunnels and staircases into a cavern with stalactites overhead and a small mirror-like lake at the bottom.
• Serra do Cume: A viewpoint over Terceira's famous patchwork of small stone-walled fields, one of the most photographed views in the Azores.
• Praia da Vitória: Terceira's second city, known for its colorful ímperios (small religious brotherhood chapels) and its sandy beach, a change of pace from Angra.

Suggestion for the day: Horta, the City of Sailors

For centuries, Horta has been a vital stopping point for sailors crossing the Atlantic, and that history is everywhere in town.

• Peter Café Sport: A local landmark and gathering place for sailors from around the world, no visit to Horta is complete without a stop.
• Horta's Marina: Sailors have painted the harbor walls for generations, creating a mosaic of murals marking their Atlantic crossings.
• Porto Pim: A promenade and sandy beach a short walk from the marina, good for a relaxed end to the day.
• Monte da Guia: A hilltop above town with panoramic views over Horta, the harbor, and Pico Island across the channel.

Suggestion for the day: Capelinhos Volcano and Caldeira

Faial's volcanic history is on full display away from Horta.

• Ribeirinha Village: The ruins of the Church of São Mateus, a reminder of the 1998 earthquake that reshaped the village.
• Capelinhos Volcano: A dramatic moonscape created by the 1957-1958 eruption, with a visitor center explaining the volcano's history.
• Caldeira: A vast volcanic crater at the heart of Faial, walk along the rim for panoramic views or explore the vegetation inside.
• Almoxarife Beach: Black volcanic sand and clear turquoise water, with Pico Island visible across the water, worth a stop if there's time left in the day.

Suggestion for the day: A First Evening in Ponta Delgada

• Settle in, the hotel overlooks the marina and cruise port, and Ponta Delgada's historic center, including Portas do Mar, Mercado da Graça, and the Ponta Delgada City Gates, is all within walking distance. Take an early evening stroll along the waterfront before exploring more thoroughly tomorrow.

Suggestion for the day: Sete Cidades and Ponta da Ferraria

The west side of the island holds several of São Miguel's most distinctive sights.

• Vista do Rei: A panoramic viewpoint over the Green and Blue twin lakes of Sete Cidades, tied to a local legend of forbidden love.
• Mosteiros: A small village nearby known for its sunsets, worth a stop on the way to or from Ponta da Ferraria.
• Ponta da Ferraria: A natural thermal ocean pool in Ginetes, where hot volcanic springs mix directly with the cool Atlantic. Check the tide times before you go, the pools are best enjoyed at low tide.

Furnas is the center of the island's geothermal activity.

• Caldeiras das Furnas: Close to 30 bubbling volcanic vents right in the town center.
• Cozido das Furnas: Visit around lunchtime to see restaurants pulling stockpots out of the ground, where the traditional stew has been slow-cooking since dawn.
• Terra Nostra Garden and Thermal Pool: A botanical garden with a large iron-rich thermal pool at its center, warm year-round.
• Poça da Dona Beija: Five thermal pools at different temperatures, a quieter alternative to Terra Nostra.
• Gorreana Tea Plantation: Europe's oldest working tea farm, open since 1883, a stop on the way back toward Ponta Delgada.
