About the Accommodation

The great passion that we feel for the Island of São Jorge, with its almost 250km2 of pure nature, classified as a Natural Biosphere Reserve, inspired us to create the Abrigo da Cascata, a place surrounded by the waterfall that origins the denomination of this resort. The typical house has re-emerged from the ruins, turning into a cozy space that pretends to be, not only, an indoor place but also a starting point for adventure for whole friends and family.

Here you will be able to enjoy the tranquility of rural space with all the comfort and amenities of a hotel. This space has been carefully designed to ensure harmony between the architectural simplicity of traditional construction and the details of modern decor. You can choose between two houses, with a total of 5 bedrooms, with a shared living room and kitchen where you can enjoy a spirit of community among guests.

The “Abrigo da Cascata” tourist complex is classified as “Casas de Campo” - Rural Tourism and is composed of 4 buildings, namely:

• Main House: includes the kitchen and common room on the lower floor as well as bedrooms 1, 2, and 3 on the upper
  floor;

• Small House: integrates rooms 4 (upper floor) and 5 (lower floor);

• Water Mill: is the reception office for guests, designed to provide registration of guests’ check-in and check-out; reception, custody, and delivery to guests of messages, correspondence and other objects intended for them. This space has the function of providing information to the general public about the services offered and will also have an exhibitor of local products, artisanal and gastronomic products, as well as merchandising products with the brand of the enterprise.

• Laundry: space to support maintenance and storage, reserved for employees.
