Today's itinerary is designed for a smooth transition into island life, allowing you to unwind after your flights and discover the charming town of Madalena, the main city hub of Pico.

• Settling In: Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and unpack at your own pace. Take some time to relax and refresh after your journey. Step onto your balcony or explore your surroundings, already rewarded with panoramic views of the awe-inspiring Pico Mountain.
• A Touch of History:  If you're feeling energized, head into the heart of Madalena. Visit the Santa Maria da Madalena Church, a beautiful 17th-century structure with a distinctive white facade. Step inside to admire the ornate altarpieces and religious artifacts.
• Relaxation in Nature: Head to the Criação Velha Natural Pools, a series of natural pools formed by volcanic rock formations along the island's western coast. Take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear ocean waters and enjoy the stunning scenery.

Starting from Madalena, journey towards the parish of São Mateus to visit the Sanctuary of “Bom Jesus Milagroso.” Discover unique handcrafted items at the Regional Crafts House, featuring beautiful pieces made from fish scales, teeth, whalebone, lace, and embroidery.

Savor a tasting at a traditional cheese dairy and sample the famous Pico Island cheese. Enjoy a lunch of typical dishes at a local restaurant. The tour continues to Lajes do Pico, known as the “Whaling Village,” where you'll visit the Whaling Museum*.

Cross the island to the north, stopping at Captain's Lake, followed by a visit to the commercial pier in São Roque. On the way back to Madalena, marvel at the vast lava fields of “Mistério das Bandeiras.”

The tour concludes at “Cachorro dos Arcos,” where you can explore fascinating rock formations, tunnels, and caves. Return to Madalena by 5:00 PM.

This itinerary provides a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your arrival day, exploring the charming town of Velas and soaking in the island's natural beauty.

• Downtown Velas: Embark on a stroll through the heart of Velas. Admire the colorful houses and traditional architecture. Take in the relaxed atmosphere and friendly vibes of this island town.
• República Garden: Seek a moment of tranquility at the República Garden (Jardim da República).
• Natural Swimming Pools: In the afternoon, head to one of the natural swimming pools tucked along the coast of  Velas. Popular options include Poça da Preguiça or Poça do Morro.
• Ponta dos Rosais: If time permits, venture out to Ponta dos Rosais, the westernmost tip of the island. Witness the dramatic coastline and visit the old lighthouse offering panoramic views.

The tour begins in Velas and heads to the parish of Rosais, with a stop at the Pico da Velha viewpoint offering breathtaking views of Rosais, Mouros das Velas, and the sea channel between Pico, São Jorge, and Faial Islands. Continue to Sete Fontes Natural Park before passing through Toledo, Santo António, and Norte Grande, where the Norte Grande viewpoint reveals stunning vistas of the North Coast, Fajã dos Cubres, and Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo.

Next, visit a Cheese Production Cooperative for an optional tasting of São Jorge's famous cheese. After a lunch break, explore the village of Calheta with optional visits to the Francisco Lacerda Museum and São Jorge Museum. The Calheta viewpoint offers panoramic views of the village, the South Coast, and the sea channel between Pico and São Jorge Islands. Passing through Ribeira Seca, you'll stop at Fajã dos Vimes to browse artisanal products and taste the island’s unique local coffee.

The route continues through Serra do Topo with stops at Pedras Brancas and Fajã de São João viewpoints. Traveling through São Tomé, Santo Antão, and Vila do Topo, you'll enjoy views from Pontinha do Topo of Topo islet, as well as Terceira and Graciosa islands. On the return to Velas, stop at the Manadas viewpoint, visit the Santa Barbara church, and see the iconic church tower in Urzelina. The final stops are at the Ribeira do Almeida viewpoint, with views of Velas village and the sea channel, and São Pedro viewpoint, overlooking Mouros das Velas and the sea channel.

Santa Maria Island welcomes you with its charming capital, Vila do Porto. This itinerary guides you through a delightful exploration of the town on foot, perfect for your arrival day.

Highlights include the oldest chapel in the Azores, a statue of Christopher Columbus, natural pools, and the site of Portugal's oldest Blues Festival.
• São Pedro: Barreiro da Faneca, also known as the "Red Desert," is a must-see geological marvel and one of the largest volcanic remnants on the island. The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, the first of its kind built outside the Diocese of Leiria, honors Our Lady of Fátima and is an important religious site.

Embark on a full-day adventure across São Miguel, starting with a stop in Vila Franca do Campo, the island's first capital. Here, you’ll taste the famous Queijada da Vila, a traditional cheesecake made from a recipe created by nuns.

Next, we head to the Furnas Valley, a volcanic wonderland, where you'll see fumaroles and explore the geothermal cooking of the famous Cozido das Furnas (Furnas stew).

For a peaceful break, you can visit the beautiful Terra Nostra Garden (optional), followed by more volcanic phenomena at Caldeiras, where hot springs and fresh waters converge.
