The Azores & Madeira: Highlights Tour

The Azores Getaways Highlights Tour includes round-trip flights, 7 nights of hotel accommodation (3 in Madeira, 4 in São Miguel), daily breakfast, airport transfers on arrival and departure at both destinations, 4 included guided day tours (2 per island), and all taxes and fees related to the booking. Hotel pickup is included on every tour day. Meals outside of breakfast and optional activities are not included.

In Madeira, the package includes the Porto Moniz Tour (Câmara de Lobos, Cabo Girão, Paúl da Serra plateau, and the natural volcanic pools at Porto Moniz) and the Santana Tour (Pico do Areeiro, Laurissilva Forest, the iconic thatched-roof houses of Santana, and Ponta de São Lourenço). In São Miguel, the package includes the Sete Cidades & Lagoa do Fogo Tour and the Furnas & Hot Springs Tour. All four tours include lunch and hotel pickup.

All four tours are easy sightseeing tours designed for a general audience. They involve getting on and off a vehicle at viewpoints and walking short distances on mostly flat or paved ground. No hiking experience or special fitness level is required. Hotels are located in or close to the city center in both Funchal (Madeira) and Ponta Delgada (São Miguel), within walking distance of the main sights. Yes, daily breakfast is included at the hotel in both Madeira and São Miguel for the full duration of the stay. Lunch is included on each of the four guided tour days. All other meals are at your own expense.

No. City taxes are not included and are paid directly at each hotel on arrival or checkout. 

A direct flight between Madeira and São Miguel is included in the package, operating on day 4 of the itinerary. The flight takes approximately 2 hours. Airport transfers on both ends are included. No additional travel arrangements are needed between the two islands.

Seat selection, extra baggage, and cabin class upgrades are not included in the package price but can be arranged as paid add-ons, subject to availability.

The package price is based on two travelers sharing a room. Solo travelers pay a single supplement. Contact the Azores Getaways team directly and we will make it easy. Both destinations are accessible year-round. Spring (April to May) brings mild temperatures around 18°C (64°F) in Madeira and 16°C (61°F) in São Miguel, with fewer crowds and lower prices. Summer (June to August) is the busiest period, with temperatures reaching 25°C (77°F) in Madeira and 24°C (75°F) in São Miguel, ideal for outdoor tours and coastal walks. Autumn (September to October) offers warm weather, quieter conditions, and good visibility for tours. Winter is mild by North American standards, rarely dropping below 14°C (57°F) on either island, and a good option for travelers avoiding crowds entirely.

Both Madeira and the Azores are part of Portugal and the European Union. Canadian and US passport holders do not currently need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. Entry requirements are the traveler's responsibility and can change, so check with the relevant embassy or official government website before you travel.

The land portion of your package (hotels, tours, and transfers) is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued, but the Azores Getaways team will always check with the airline on your behalf to explore available options. Contact the team as soon as you know you need to cancel. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is strongly recommended.

Both Madeira and the Azores are part of Portugal, a stable and safe destination with no active conflicts. Neither island is affected by the current conflicts in in the world.
