???? ACCOMMODATION GUIDE

Corvo is the smallest island in the European Union, with around 384 residents and very limited accommodation. There is one hotel, two local accommodation providers with a handful of rental units between them, and a free municipal campsite that requires advance authorization. That is the full list.

If you are visiting during October birding season, options fill up weeks in advance. This guide covers every property on the island and what to do if nothing is available.

Hotels and Guest Houses

Hotel Comodoro

Hotel Comodoro is the only conventional hotel on Corvo. Located on Caminho do Areeiro in Vila do Corvo, it is a small property with rooms and direct contact booking.

Local Accommodation (Alojamento Local)

Two operators run licensed local accommodation on Corvo, offering self-contained rental units.

Joe & Vera's

Joe & Vera's operates three registered units in Vila do Corvo: Vintage (AL 1488), Place (AL 508), and Villa (AL 4750). The variety means they can accommodate different group sizes.

Casas do Corvo

Casas do Corvo offers three separate houses in the village: Casa da Octávia (RRAL 5227), Casa do Nitsa (RRAL 5228), and Casa do Henri (RRAL 5545). All are self-catering.

Camping: Areia Municipal Leisure Park

The Areia Municipal Leisure Park is a free campsite run by Corvo Municipal Council, located on Rua da Cruz next to the Areia bathing area. Facilities include showers, toilets, barbecue and washing areas, picnic tables, charging points for electronic devices, a clothesline, parking, and a rest area. The bathing area is directly adjacent.

⚠️ CAMPING REQUIRES PRIOR AUTHORIZATION

Camping at Areia is not first-come-first-served. You must submit a Camping Application Form to Corvo Municipal Council before arriving. Applications are processed in advance to manage the site.

The campsite is free of charge once authorized. It is a good option for those who plan ahead and prefer a more self-sufficient stay close to the sea.

When to Book

The total accommodation capacity on Corvo is small. In October, when birding groups from the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany travel specifically for vagrant season, every available unit tends to fill up. Book as early as possible for any October dates, particularly the first two weeks of the month.

Outside peak season, June through September, you have more room to maneuver, but the island's inventory is still limited. Do not leave accommodation until the last minute for any visit.

Practical notes. There is no ATM on Corvo. Bring cash from Flores or another island before you cross. The campsite is free but still requires the advance authorization form. Mobile signal is variable outside the village.

If Corvo Is Full: The Flores Option

If no accommodation is available on Corvo, staying on Flores and doing a day trip is a realistic alternative. The Atlanticoline ferry from Santa Cruz das Flores takes 40 to 60 minutes each way and runs seasonally from around May through October. Flores has a much wider range of accommodation and services.

The day trip works well if you are not trying to do serious birding. For October vagrant season, overnight stays on Corvo are strongly preferred; first light coverage of the fields and caldera area is where most records happen, and you cannot do that from Flores.
