Two domestic flights connect the three islands, included in the package. Exact routing and flight times are confirmed at booking, all three airports are compact and easy to navigate independently. Airport transfers are included on both ends of every flight.

No rental car is included in this package. In São Miguel and Terceira, hotels are centrally located, within walking distance of each city center, so a car isn't essential for getting around downtown. On Pico, a rental car or guided tour is the most practical way to reach the island's vineyards, lava caves, and natural pools. São Miguel, Pico & Terceira with Car

In São Miguel and Terceira, hotels are generally centrally located, though some light walking may still be needed to reach the city center. On Pico, some standard accommodations may be unrated boutique or rural properties rather than star-classified hotels, and are not necessarily city-centered. The package price varies depending on the hotel selected. Exact options are shown when you click a date in the booking calendar. Upgrade and alternative options are available on request.

No, this is an independent itinerary, and all guided experiences are optional, at additional cost. Popular options include whale watching from Pico, vineyard and wine tastings on Pico, Furnas and Sete Cidades tours on São Miguel, and Algar do Carvão and city tours in Angra do Heroísmo on Terceira. You can explore what's within walking distance of your hotel in São Miguel and Terceira on foot. But to reach the islands' natural highlights, like Sete Cidades, Algar do Carvão, or Pico's crater lakes, you'll need a rental car or a guided tour. Ride-sharing apps are still very limited across the islands, and on Pico, taxis are limited outside Madalena.

São Miguel: Sete Cidades' twin crater lakes, Furnas' geothermal calderas, and Gorreana, Europe's oldest working tea plantation, established in 1883. 

Pico: Pico Mountain, Portugal's highest peak at 2,351 meters, and UNESCO-listed vineyards grown inside black volcanic stone walls. 

Terceira: Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and Algar do Carvão, a volcanic chimney you descend into.

All three islands stay cool and changeable year-round. Spring (March to May) runs roughly 15-20°C (59-68°F), good for hiking and sightseeing. Summer (June to August) is warmest, around 21-26°C (70-79°F), and the best season for whale watching from Pico. Autumn (September to October) stays mild, near 18-23°C (64-73°F). Winter (November to February) is cooler and wetter, typically 13-17°C (55-63°F).

The land portion of your package is refundable if cancelled at least 14 days before your travel date. Airfare is non-refundable from the moment it is issued, but the Azores Getaways team will always check with the airline to explore options. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is strongly recommended, especially with two domestic flights on this itinerary. The Azores are part of Portugal and the European Union. US and Canadian passport holders do not currently need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. The Azores are a stable and safe destination with no active conflicts, not affected by current conflicts in Europe or elsewhere. We recommend checking your government's official travel advisory before departure.

Checked luggage is not always included, it depends on the airline and fare type in your package. Note that baggage allowances on the inter-island flights are typically lower than on your transatlantic flight, since these routes are operated by smaller aircraft. You can check and add luggage during the booking process, or contact the Azores Getaways team for help.
